Her story
An adviser who understands the journey
Karishma Malek has worked in the immigration industry since 2000 and has been a Licensed Immigration Adviser since 2009. She leads her own consultancy from Royal Oak, Auckland, serving clients from a wide range of countries, cultures, and communities.
Karishma migrated to New Zealand in 2005. Her own residence application took six years to process, giving her first-hand experience of the uncertainty and challenges immigration clients can face.
That experience shapes the way she works today: listening closely, understanding the person behind the application, and offering clear, realistic guidance throughout the process.
Alongside her practice, Karishma served on the board of the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment (NZAMI) from 2012 to 2023, including as a Director. She was a CPD coach and later Chair of NZAMI’s Continuing Professional Development committee, where she not only presented at CPD events but also organised them. She also contributed to its membership and policy committees and took part in Immigration New Zealand consultation processes.
Multilingual support
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati, with understanding of Punjabi, Marathi, and other regional Indian languages.
Industry leadership
Former NZAMI Director, CPD coach, and Chair of the Continuing Professional Development committee, where she presented at and organised CPD events.
Licensed, experienced, and personally committed
Karishma is married with two children and understands how closely immigration decisions are connected to family, work, and long-term plans. She believes her own experience helps her understand clients more closely and support them with empathy.
